Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. In the first place Selmon was born with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on an agricultural property near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week as a volunteer in the college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers played an all-pro three times before beginning his business career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 youngsters from the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Fla's athletic department as the assistant director. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
