Her parents are Harvey Welker a Native American father, and Julie Welker an African-American mother. She is the mother of an agent for real estate, and her father is a graduate in engineering. Walker attended school in the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown area where she graduated in 1994. When she graduated of Harvard College in 1998, she enrolled at Harvard College and earned her bachelor of Arts.
